ABOUT KATIE

Katie started her dance training as a ballet student at South Bay Dance Center, focusing her technique based on the studies of Balanchine and Vaganova. She eventually joined South Bay Ballet Arts, a regional company, where she performed repertoire from ballets including: The Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Swan Lake, Le Corsaire, Don Quixote and Paquita.


Katie later switched her focus to Modern when she attended Saint Mary's College of California. She obtained her B.A. in Dance: Choreography & Performance, Magna Cum Laude, studying a variety of techniques, somatic practices and research methods. While in college, Katie was honored to collaborate with and perform for the Saint Mary's College Dance Faculty and guest artists including KJ Dahlaw and Jermaine McGhee. She also completed an artist residency during her time in college at The Guest House and showcased her first choreographic work entitled “One Way or Another” at The Village Hall in Cork, Ireland. 


Katie also a special place for teaching and learning from others. She currently teaches Modern & Contemporary around the Bay Area and performs for Dana Lawton Dances. In the past, Katie has worked as an Assistant Choreographer for Silicon Valley Shakespeare and taught Modern and Choreography at Saint Mary's College High School.
